The Paneada 2024 event showcased the best Pan de Muerto from 21 bakeries in Mexico City. Among the winners, Elizondo and Pastelería Alcazar stood out for their innovative flavors. Visitors can enjoy unique options for this traditional Mexican bread.

The Elizondo bakery, located at Avenida Ejército Nacional Mexicano 963, in the Irrigación neighborhood, Miguel Hidalgo borough, is recognized for its special pan de muerto, made only with butter and sugar, which earned it second place in a competition. As an alternative, they offer varieties filled with chocolate and cinnamon, cream cheese, guava compote, and the classic cream. The chain has five branches in different areas of Mexico City.

In another vein, Pastelería Mallorca, which has branches on Avenida Paseo de la Reforma and Lomas de Chapultepec, presented a simple but memorable pan de muerto due to its traditional preparation with citrus flavor. Similarly, Palacio de Hierro stood out for its classic and delicious pan de muerto, highlighting the citrus notes of the dough.

Maison Kayser impressed with its French cream filling for the pan de muerto, while Garabatos won recognition for the most original bread with its filling of "house cream." Pastelería Alcazar captivated marzipan lovers with its pan de muerto filled with marzipan cream and ball cheese, with locations in different parts of the city.

Additionally, Sofitel innovated with a croissant inspired by the pan de muerto, while Amado surprised with a guava cream filling. The competition, which included categories like best filling, most original bread, and public choice, reflected the diversity of proposals in the city. Mãtre presented a pan de muerto with hazelnut and maple touches, and Suavecito surprised with its variety.

Other bakeries participating in the "Paneada de 2024" presented equally creative and delicious proposals. These establishments, such as Aúna, Buñuelo, Dave’s Home Bread, and Saint among others, offered unique interpretations of this Mexican classic. The evaluation by tasters allowed for the selection of the best in the "Best Traditional Pan de Muerto" category.
